Global address list not updating in outlook
Outlook 2010 has a feature called the Outlook Social Connector (OSC) that can show photos in Outlook from Linked IN, Facebook, etc..
This appears at the bottom of an email message (see figure 1 below).
The Global Address Book (GAL) is a directory of available contact information for California State University, Sacramento faculty, staff and students.
It can be accessed when using a CSUS email (@csus.ed) account with Outlook or when logged in to the Outlook Web App.
You have set up Outlook Photos and added photos as you require, however the photos are not appearing in Microsoft Outlook 2010.
The Global Address List (GAL) has not updated from Active Directory.
It can take up to 72 hours for new records and updates to existing records in AD/Exchange to propagate out to all local copies of the GAL.
This is done by simply opening a contact and clicking on the photo icon, then browsing for a photo to upload.
All contacts are shown correctly when accessing webmail but not from within Outlook.
This document explains the process of how an individual can get their information updated in GAL.
Outlook can be manually updated via the other solution: That is, you can send email to any user in AD.
If they have an Exchange account, then they are "mailbox-enabled" and the GAL determines which Exchange Server hosts their mailbox.
